Partner and Family Visas
Married Partners/Spouse
You can apply for the Spouse Visa if you are a partner of British citizens or persons with indefinite leave to remain in the UK. This visa allows you to join, live or stay with your wife or husband in the UK.
In order to be eligible to apply for Spouse Visa, applicants must:
- Your partner: be a British citizen, or be settled in the UK (through Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), settled status or permanent residence.
- Be aged 18 or over (both).
- Meet in person and are legally married.
- Be in a genuine relationship and intend to live together permanently.
- Any previous relationships have permanently ended.
- Have adequate funds to support and accommodate yourself and dependents without working or help from public funds.
- Demonstrate English Language knowledge.
Spouse Visa holders have a full right to work and study in the UK. You will get permission to stay for 2.5 years and then you can apply to UK Visas and Immigration to extend your stay.
Unmarried Partners
You can apply for the Unmarried Partner Visa if you are a long term partner of British citizens or persons with indefinite leave to remain in the UK. This visa allows you to join, live or stay with your partner in the UK.
In order to be eligible to apply for Unmarried Partner Visa, applicants must:
- Your partner: be a British citizen or hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
- Be aged 18 or over (both).
- Meet in person and have lived together in a relationship for at least 2 years
- Be in a genuine relationship and intend to live together permanently.
- Any previous relationships have permanently ended.
- Have adequate funds to support and accommodate yourself without working or help from public funds.
- Demonstrate English Language knowledge.
Unmarried Partner Visa holders have a full right to work and study in the UK. You will get permission to stay for 2.5 years and then you can apply to UK Visas and Immigration to extend your stay.
Civil Partnership
You can apply for the Civil Partner Visa if you are an civil partner of British citizens or persons with indefinite leave to remain in the UK. This visa allows you to join, live or stay with your civil partner in the UK.
In order to be eligible to apply for Civil Partner Visa, applicants must:
- Your partner: be a British citizen or hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
- Be aged 18 or over (both).
- Meet in person and have in a civil partnership.
- Be in a genuine relationship and intend to live together permanently.
- Any previous relationships have permanently ended.
- Have adequate funds to support and accommodate yourself without working or help from public funds.
- Demonstrate English Language knowledge.

Fiancé(e)
You can apply for the Fiancé(e) Visa if you are an engaged partner of British citizens or persons with indefinite leave to remain in the UK. This visa allows you to join, live or stay with your partner in the UK.
In order to be eligible to apply for Fiancé(e) Visa, applicants must:
- Your partner: be a British citizen or hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
- Be aged 18 or over (both).
- Meet in person and plan to marry in 6 months.
- Be in a genuine relationship and intend to live together permanently.
- Any previous relationships have permanently ended.
- Have adequate funds to support and accommodate yourself without working or help from public funds.
- Demonstrate English Language knowledge.
Fiancé(e) visa holders are not permitted to work in the UK during their engagement. You will get permission to stay for 6 months and then you need to apply to UK Visas and Immigration to extend your stay.
Child Visa
Child Visa is for children living overseas whose parents have indefinite leave to remain or proof of permanent residence in the UK.
In order to be eligible for Child Visa route, a child must:
- Be under 18 years old.
- Be associated with the parent or other relative as claimed
- Be having an independent life. To illustrate, they did not get married or have children.
The UK sponsor will also must to show that they satisfy a financial requirements.
Adult Dependant Relative Visa
You can apply for the Adult Dependant Relative Visa if you are an adult dependent relative including parents, grandparents or an adult siblings who need to be cared. In order to be eligible for Adult Dependant Relative Visa, you must:
- Be a dependent on a person who a British citizen or settled in the UK.
- Prove the genuine relationship with the sponsor.
- Need long-term care to do personal and household tasks related to illness, disability or age;
- Not have care options available or affordable in your home country or where you living.
The UK sponsor will also must to show that they satisfy a financial requirements without claiming public funds for at least 5 years.
The Family Member of a PBS Migrant
Family Member of a PBS Migrant Visa is for partners and children of points-based system (PBS) migrants to travel and stay in the UK with their family member. To be eligible for Family Member of a PBS Migrant Visa, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a family member including partner and child of PBS migrant.
- Be in a genuine relationship and intend to live together.
- Not intend to stay in the UK beyond any period of leave granted to the PBS migrant
